Arm outstretched reaching to pass on small gift
prompted by his ever present cardboard sign and perpetual poverty
as my car passes him our hands meet
mine, clean white mom hands for cradling babies and wiping up spilt milk
his, deep, creased, cradling grease and dirt
I give two coins and
receive the words,
"God bless you"
as my morning benediction
and I don't want to wash his blessing off my hands.

thank you.
A suprise blessing. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful.
Wow. That's really beautiful Aimee.
assuming you found your van keys? I thought of you just a few minutes ago when I locked my van key in the van, and it's running. Me and the boys are warm in the house while we wait for hubby to come turn it off (after he goes to the grocery store for me.)
