Farm and Food

Check out the Abundant Acre Family Farm blog (my sister and brother in law) for details about touring the farm this Saturday. The kids and I have been out and have enjoyed seeing the different vegetables at various stages. It is so good to see where our food comes from. Also, if you didn't sign up for a garden box this summer you can still enjoy local and delicious veggies this fall and part of winter. More details are on their website. Also, Cara recently posted a couple of book reviews too - both books look very interesting.

The kids and I soaked in as much sun as we could today at Queen Elizabeth Park. The kids loved our adventure - hiking the highest point in Vancouver (Little Mountain - but according to Elijah it was not little at all, more like "gigantic!") running over little bridges, marveling at the huge Gunnera leaves, noticing all the flowers, racing around the fountain, and hiding in the Henry Moore sculpture. We have lived here a year and this was our first time there. The kids were sad to leave but I promised we would return on another sunny day - there is still much to be discovered. I should also add that they marveled at my strength as I heaved the triple stroller up a few sets of rock stairs. Much of the park is wheelchair, and thus stroller, friendly, but the paths we chose weren't always. Since the kids were out of the stroller it wasn't too bad, but it probably looked pretty cumbersome. We didn't visit the conservatory - I think I'll wait till Lance (or Gramps!) can join us. I'm not ready to unleash three little ones in there.

Well I think I'll call it a day. Goodnight.

This morning while eating frozen blueberries:

"Ahh they're cold. My teeth need a toque!"

Up up and away

I recently bought a wide angle lens for my camera and have been enjoying some of the effects it gives the photos. I'm still playing around with it but already am very glad I bought it. The flying pics and chalk drawing pics are some examples of shots with the new lens.

And finally, before I get to bed, I had to take a photo of this tonight, and I had to share it with you.

Sometimes having a two year old brother share you room is hard and when you have been awakened from your peaceful sleep by his grumpy screams, you have no choice but to accept your mom's offer and fall asleep wearing industrial ear muffs. Poor guy. I'm sure glad it worked though!

goodnight.

Training wheels are off

So today after a couple months of asking, Elijah got his wish and Lance took his training wheels off. We knew it would be cruel to take them off when we were so busy that neither parent could help him get the hang of it. Lance handed in his last papers last Monday and now has only (only?) his thesis project left, so we are breathing easier, and he is around more to help Elijah learn. Well, after about five minutes of practicing this is our little guy...

PNE

We went with the Kinney's and Robyn to the PNE yesterday thanks to free tickets from Melanie... One of the highlights - for Elijah - was cotton candy. We got the girl to split a regular on to three sticks - yikes they still got SOOO much. But they look cute don't they? Elijah polished his off, Eva quit after a couple bites. If you know me you know it was hard for me to let this happen... but it's not that often... and he was so happy.
